Standardized two-year age categories and designations are set by Football Canada and athletes must be UNDER the age on December 31st of the current year (ie. an athlete cannot play in the U16 division if they are turning 16 in that calendar year).

Flag (5-7 years old)

(Flag)

Fall football program starts off with the youngest player division of flag football.  Children play a 5-on-5 game in accordance to Spring Flag rules and regulations.

Emphasis is on learning the basic football fundamentals and team concepts, whilst promoting a fun environment and positive experience for the players.

Atom (8-9 years old)

(Flag)

This is a hybrid 9-man flag game that allows for minimal contact on the line of scrimmage. Players will wear protective football equipment and FLAGS on the hips. Blocking will be allowed at the line of scrimmage, but THERE WILL BE NO TACKLING!!  The ball carrier whose flag is removed by defensive player will be considered tackled.

Peewee (10-11 years old)

(Tackle)

This is the first level where the full contact tackle style is implemented. This will be either 9-man or 12-man with standard Canadian football rules.

This division is played on a full Canadian football field of 110 yards by 63 yards.  Players at this level start to learn greater elements of the game of football and learn more detailed techniques.

Junior Bantam (12-13 years old)

(Tackle)

This division plays 12-man or 9-man depending on number of registered players.  The division is played as a 12-on-12 full field football gameplay. Here the passing game begins to develop along with the learning of schemes and bigger playbooks.

Bantam (14-15 years old)

(Tackle)

Players here will learn all there is to know about the game and will be challenged by their coaches to translate the practices to game success.   As with the other divisions, the game may be 12-man or 9-man depending on registration.

Midget (16-18 years old)

(Tackle)

This is the oldest division; it allows the senior players a chance to stay in community football and gives them an opportunity to look at future involvement at either the Junior or College level. The Midget level has produced some of the most exciting football including many of the last VMFL finals and Provincial games.
